January 10 It was apparent when I awoke that my blisters were going to be very sore if I did not give them a rest.  We also decided that we needed to send some weight home.  If Heather was not going to be able to row we did not need her oars or her RoWing.  We also did not need to carry it in our dunnage!  I found a large cardboard box, bought a roll of duct tape and a razor knife and started to build a box.  Three hours later I took it to the office with the oars in their oar bag stuffed with unneeded clothes.  They will hold them until I can send a UPS or Fedex call tag.  The day had become our first rest day.  My resolve to start the trip slowly doing only 5 to 10 miles per day had been forgotten and this was the price. I booked another campsite on the shore in a quieter spot where we set up camp and went to bed early.
